Loan That Helps People

I finally found a good reason for me to get a credit card (it'll be fine with a debit card if it's applicable). While reading through this financial blog, Millionaire Mommy Next Door, i came across to this website, Kiva.org.

This is a non-profit organization website which get loans from developed countries (or quite developed country like Malaysia) to lend out to small business owners in the third world countries, to build their business. The loan amount? Just USD25 and you can helped someone.

The basic theory of this is... If let's say, a basket weavers' group need USD400 (mostly divided to 10 other small entrepreneurs), we can either lend them USD400 in full, or just USD25 while other people in the rest of the world lend their share of USD25 in order to mark up USD400 for the group.

I found this very interesting... A way to help the people in Third World Countries... So, if you have USD25 or RM82.50++ to spare... lend them a helping cash! By the way, the repayment term of the loan... usually ranged from 6 to 12 months.

More videos about this Kiva by Bill Clinton and Oprah :)
