I am a bank teller now, working in Public Bank Berhad, one of the top local bank... not one of the top... but the number one local bank in Malaysia, rated as the best for consequent five years because of their best customers service and 2 minutes waiting time system. My job is classified as "Clerk/Teller/Cashier", means, i do basically almost everything as a low rank employee.
Low-rank? So what? The most important thing is, i enjoy my job very much... currently of course. I think i will be bored when i become a robot which process and do everything in my position automatically and without thinking. By the way, my job do require me to think.... for the moment while i'm still new and i need to understand the flow and procedure.
Friday, my trainer was on MC (she applied it for fun, weekly one MC =.=) and my friend, whom teach me while my trainer is on MC or leave (weekly) went out for lunch. I'm alone, and no one to ask and confirm what i am doing. I did not want to do any mistakes though i can do reversal (a term for correction in bank) because i'm still in probation period. So, i had to think and understand the floor of double entry.
In Accounting;
Debit = In
Credit = Out
But, in bank system;
Debit = Out
Credit = In
because the money that the public put in bank as savings are the public's money and not bank's money, and when public save money in bank, bank owe them money. That's Debit = In and Credit = Out.
So, i think think think and think, and i did it correctly (yes! no reversal). So, after all, it's still challenging to me, it's not boring, and time passed fast, and i learn fast (my officer praised me that i'm a fast learner.)
I'm looking forward to be a Personal Banker (PB) which is; less job, high basic pay (approximately minimum of RM2000 in local bank RM4000 in foreign bank), with commission from loans, credit cards, mortgage, unit trust, etc etc... and is the best next high ranked officer if you can't get a Manager position. One more thing, it will open a path to wider network with other business people when i'm a PB. This will contribute in my path of entrepreneurship in the future :)
So, i updated my blog at last, on Sunday morning~~~
See you on the top...*pat on your back*
