Seven Samurai

Seven Samurai, a movie by Akira Kurosawa in year 1954... a black and white film and highly-rated. As high as 9.7 out of 10! I had already watched it a few times and still can't get enough of it. Stephen Spielberg was also influenced by this film.

The story is about a small village is being persecuted by bandits who return every harvest to seize the village's crop. Faced with starvation, the villagers send out a mission to find and recruit some samurai to defend them. With no pay to offer except rice, and knowing full well that only down-on-their-luck samurai would even consider accepting such a deal. The villagers can only hope that their saviours will appear before the rice is ready for harvest.

This movie done so well. I even got the anime of the movie, Samurai 7. The storyline is about the same, but got robots and more actions. Those are the characters in anime.

Kanbei, the wise and skillful ronin (samurai who don't have a master) who are the leader of the group of seven. He's experienced because he lost all the battles, and the clan he's in had been decapitated. In the movie, he's a baldy oldman =.="












The youngest and most inexperienced among the seven, Katsushiro. He's still a rookie samurai who had never killed any enemy in his Samurai life.

In the movie, he squeezed a peasant girl's breast :S And in the anime, he stole a kiss from the same peasant girl. Japanese is so horny. (That makes me wonder if i'm a Japanese...)








Kikuyochi, a peasant-turn-into-Samurai. Unskilled but brave and also, the jester (joker) of the group. Hot-blooded and always act without using his brain. Both in the movie and the anime, he's the funniest character that everyone likes.







Shichiroji, Kanbei's partner in the previous war.





Kyuzo, i like him very much! Fastest samurai who is in a journey to perfect his skills. He never smile in the movie nor the anime. Looks like cold-blooded but it's just that he don't know how to express it by words.





Gorobei, a Samurai-turn-Entertainer-who-turn-back Samurai. A very accurate archer. He likes to joke around and makes everyone happy.




Heihachi, a cheerful expert in chopping wood. He betrayed someone in the past, now he hates betrayal very very very very much. Have wide knowledge in rice and machines.






Overall, it's very nice :D Go and get the DVD or download it. Very nice :D
